Bonfire night in Leicester: Top spots for students
Treacle toffee, parkin, big bangers - who doesn’t love Bonfire Night! If you want to make sure your evening goes with a bang, we’ve lined up the top events in Leicester to head to. So grab your mates, wrap up warm and get those sparklers at the ready.
Abbey Park Firework Display
1st November, from 5pm
Leicester’s biggest firework event is doubling up this year. It’s a Halloween/Bonfire Night extravaganza, giving you more bang for your buck! Go for a ghostly walkabout, run and hide from creepy creatures and enjoy fire and flame performances. With live music, a funfair and delicious food and drink stalls to boot, it certainly sounds like a fun-packed evening.
Where: Abbey Park, Abbey Park Road, LE4 5AQ. Take the no. 54 bus from Haymarket Bus Station.

Bonfire & Fireworks at Quorn & Woodhouse Station
5th November at 6pm
Experience Bonfire Night with a difference at Quorn & Woodhouse Station. The station, which loaded troops and equipment during wartime, has been restored to its 1940s condition, complete with a rebuilt air raid shelter and NAAFI-style tearoom. Grab yourself some classic Bonfire Night bites, and be sure to pop into the Tin Shed Bar for a pint or soft drink to enjoy as you bask in the glow of the bonfire. The firework display begins at 8pm.
Where: Quorn & Woodhouse Station, Woodhouse Road, Quorn, LE12 8AG. Catch the 154 from St. Margaret’s Bus Station or the train from Leicester North. (Train tickets need to be booked in advance on GCR’s website.)

Fireworks Night at The Cow and Plough
5th November, from 6pm
This quintessential British pub in picturesque Stoughton is the perfect place to enjoy a traditional Bonfire Night. Arrive early to snag a spot in the rustic Pub in the Woods, which serves craft beers, ales and hearty hot food. Then cosy up by the bonfire, ready to enjoy the firework display.
Where: The Cow and Plough, Stoughton Park, Gartree Road, LE2 2FB. Jump on the 22A bus from Charles Street.

Leicester Racecourse Fireworks Festival
1st November, from 4pm
If you like your fireworks on the epic scale, head down to Leicester Racecourse. There’s a funfair, tasty food and drink and a live DJ set from Aston Merrygold (remember JLS?!) to get everyone in the mood. The main event kicks off at 8:45 - an award-winning firework display synchronised to music.

Vipers RFC Bonfire & Fireworks
5th November, from 5:30pm
For a classic Bonfire Night atmosphere, head down to this friendly community event with a funfair, food stalls and a bar. Cheap pints, a roaring fire and good old-fashioned bangers? What more do you need! The firework display kicks off at 7:30pm.
Where: Vipers RFC, Blaby Bypass, Whetstone, LE8 6DA. Jump on the no.84 bus at Charles Street.
Cost: £9 advance tickets are available here or £10 on the gate.
